Frank Lloyd Wright: Rosenbaum House

Completed in 1940, the Rosenbaum is the oldest Wright house in the US that is occupied by its original owners. The original house, completed in 1940 and enlarged by Wright in 1948, employs Wright’s radical ideas for organic architecture. He has designed carport, used radiant heating and curtain walls, a cantilevered roof, access to the outside from every room and elevations that follow the natural contour of the site.

 

Talladega SuperSpeedway

 The Talladega Superspeedway Club offers everything a NASCAR fan wants. Talladega Superspeedway is the biggest, fastest, most competitive motorsports facility in the world. Records for both speed and competition have been established at Talladega. Built at a cost of more than four million dollars, the track opened as Alabama International Motor Speedway in September 1969. The first event there was the 'BAMA 400 Grand Touring race on Sept. 13, 1969. A world record of 221.160 mph for a close course was established at Talladega on Aug. 9, 1975 by Mark Donohue.

 

VisionLand
A theme park created by a group of towns and cities around Birmingham, Alabama whom joined together to provide seed money for the park. The park opened in May, 1998.

 

NASA Space Camp

Established by the State of Alabama in 1965, empowered by the U.S. Congress and supported by NASA, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is the nation's leading hands-on space science museum. Dr. Wernher von Braun, the architect of America's space program and director of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville during the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, was the man behind the idea.
