Biscuits: 2 cups flour
2 tbs
sugar
4 tsp
baking powder
1/2
tsp crm tartar
1/2
tsp salt
1/2
cp butter (1 stick)
3 tbs
buttermilk pwdr
2/3
cp water
Can mix dry ingredients ahead of time, adding wet stuff at the last minute to make a
slightly sticky dough (mashed up together in a zip lock bag). flour hands and drop small
handful size balls into iron skillet. Cover with lid or foil and cook 10-15 over hot
coals.
Sausage Gravy:
1
roll of country sausage (I use Owens)
1/4
cp corn starch (or flour)
Oil
or fat
1 can
evaporated milk
Black
pepper
water
(or use another can of milk instead for a richer version)
Brown sausage in a big iron skillet and scrap it off to one side. Tilt pan a bit so
grease collects to one side. With a fork, stir in corn starch with enough additional
oil to keep it creamy. Quickly add can milk&water (enough to make around 2 cups
liquid). Black pepper to taste and remix in sausage. Eat and think you're in
Camper's Heaven!
